Mētato deli in Lavadi on Serifos

We discovered this deliciously packed little delicatessen, Mētato, on our second last day on Serifos. It’s a block behind the waters edge in the port town of Lavadi.

There were shelves full of jars of local thyme honey, wine, fresh eggs and olives, the fridge cabinet displayed local cheeses and meats.

We used the help of a local customer who was able to translate our order to the men behind the counter. Between all of us in the deli, we were able to purchase a selection of locally made cheeses and meats.

We ate well through the afternoon that day, taking our cheeses, cold meats and bread back to our villa.
